Piano student Robert Foster will perform in celebration of an outstanding achievement: completing ten levels of study at Levine Music! Join us to recognize and enjoy Robert’s years of dedication to the piano.
Robert Thomas Foster has been studying piano performance at Levine Music in Washington, DC for the past eleven years. He began his piano study in the piano studio of Ted Cooper and worked with him for eight years until he moved to Vienna, Austria. Robert has been working with his current teacher, Dr. Mikhail Volchok, for the last three years. From 2017- 2022, Robert was part of the Levine Honors Program, where he studied music theory with Dr. Kenneth Stilwell and was part of numerous chamber groups under the coaching of Cecilia Cho, Dr. Melinda Baird, and Irina Kats. Robert has performed in master classes given by Mitra Kotte, The Emerson Quartet, Lambert Orkis, Frederic Chiu, Simone Dinnerstein, and Hélène Tysman. Robert has played at the Embassies of Austria, France, and the Netherlands. Robert has also competed in numerous Cogen Concerto, Misbin Chamber Music, and Marlin-Engel competitions, earning numerous honorable mentions and second place in 2021 and 2022 in the Senior Division of the Marlin-Engel piano competition. Robert’s consistent piano performance and preparation have earned him a Distinction level rating for every jury from level 2-10. Recently, Robert was invited to perform at the French Ambassador’s Residence for members of the French American Piano Society. Robert will graduate from Sidwell Friends School this spring and attend Carnegie Mellon University in the fall, where he plans to study mathematics.
