Piano student William Wu will perform in celebration of an outstanding achievement: completing ten levels of study at Levine Music! Join us to recognize and enjoy William’s years of dedication to the piano.
William Wu is a 15-year-old high school freshman at St. Albans in Washington, DC and has studied piano with Marina Alekseyeva since 2018. He has participated in the Levine Music Honors Program for the last three years, collaborating with other honors students in chamber ensembles. William passed his Level 10 Piano Jury with Distinction and made his orchestral debut with the Levine Chamber Orchestra in June 2023.
William had won by age 13 all the Senior Division piano competitions at Levine, including the Marlin-Engel Competition and the Cogen Concerto Competition. Additionally, he has won top prizes and earned recognition in various regional, national, and international competitions, such as the Piano Achievement Awards Competition of NVMTA (Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association), the Chopin International Competition at Hartford, and the Music International Grand Prix. He also received the Franz Liszt Merit Scholarship award, the highest at Indiana University Piano Academy. He was invited back to the Young Artist Piano Program at Boston University Tanglewood Institute with a $1,500 Scholarship.
William has performed at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Hylton Performing Arts Center, the Kennedy Center, and the Embassy of France, representing Levine Music. He has had masterclasses with Simone Dinnerstein, Tiffany Poon, Stephen Drury, Emanuel Ax, Philip Setzer from the Emerson Quartet and Anna Geniushene. When not playing piano, he enjoys reading, swimming, and drinking boba.
